Asbestos Surveying

What are Asbestos Surveys?

Asbestos Surveying is a comprehensive inspection conducted to identify, assess and manage the presence of asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). These crucial procedures ensure safety by outlining the location, condition and type of asbestos in a property.

Carried out by trained and accredited professionals, asbestos surveys are a key step in maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting a safe environment.

There are three main types of Asbestos Surveys, which we carry out:

– Management Survey, without sample – (Formerly Type 1)
– Management Survey with sampling – (Formerly Type 2)

Benefits of an Asbestos Survey:

– Manage the risks of ACMs within your building
– Assess whether ACM is present within the building
– Reduce the risk of negative health consequences (such as lung disease)
– Allow for the prompt removal of asbestos if found

Asbestos survey FAQs
Are asbestos surveys a legal requirement?

Yes, they are. According to the Control of Asbestos Regulations (CAR) 2012, the duty to manage asbestos in non-domestic properties is a legal requirement. Failing to comply with these regulations can result in hefty fines and even imprisonment.

Are there different types of asbestos?

Yes, there are tons of different types of asbestos. However, there are three main types that are commonly found within buildings. These are:

- White asbestos (Chrysotile)

How often should asbestos surveys be conducted?

After a Management Survey has been carried out, you would only need another asbestos survey prior to any planned demolition, refurbishment, or disruptive maintenance of the building.

What happens during an asbestos survey?

During a survey, our certified surveyors will conduct a detailed inspection of the premises for asbestos-containing materials (ACMs). This includes collecting samples for laboratory analysis, identifying areas of concern, and developing a management plan.
